What Is Yoga Nidra
Entering a state of deep relaxation
Yoga Nidra, Yoga (meaning oneness or awareness) and Nidra (meaning sleep), is also referred to as “Yogic Sleep”. Yoga Nidra meditation invites you into a conscious sleep state allowing the body to be in a deep sleep while the mind remains in a state of consciousness for total physical, emotional and mental relaxation.
Yoga Nidra treats: anxiety, stress, high blood pressure, insomnia, depression and PTSD. It is a perfect compliment for our holistic therapy approach.
So how does it work?
You get to lie in Savasana (corpse pose) the whole time while you’re systematically instructed through a deep relaxation exercise. The practice guides you through the koshas, or layers of our being. The sequence of cues relaxes the body and awakens the unconscious and subconscious mind.
You don’t need to know what the koshas are to get all of the benefits of yoga nidra. Benefits of the practice are numerous and range from better sleep to stress reduction and beyond. It is just one way we treat those in the program.
